“Most people think songs start with a pen and a quiet room. For me, “On My Toes” started with a circle of friends and a vibe.
This was during the first GN&B Community Hangout.
If you were at the GN&B hangout that evening , you heard the first version of this track before it even had a name. I ended up freestyling, just letting the thoughts out and the energy was crazy. It’s one thing to write a song; it’s another to watch people react to your truth in real-time. That night, I realized I had something I needed to record.
The song is a snapshot of the hustle. It’s about that transition from being “the new guy” to being the one everyone is suddenly calling. I talk about the “Steady grind till the morning” because that’s the reality, staying awake while the world sleeps so I can see the vision through.
But it’s also a bit of a “check yourself” moment for the doubters.”

On My Toes by creative D.Y Muyii is a masterpiece born from a place of artistry. In its depth, showcasing what being in the midst of a creative community can inspire you to do.

It is a song about chasing your dreams, preparing for what’s coming and never going far away from your creative self.

A song that celebrates a journey of great exploration.

LYRICS:

Me on my toes
Me don’t know what’s coming
Steady grind for the money
If at all I must do this
Then I’ll keep my eyes open
You no believe so ronti?
Steady grind till the morning
Now all eyes on me
Couple lot of b*s calling me

Do me like who
Do me like who you didn’t know
Called me a fool
I acted a jew
Cause I was new to this one
You gave me the tool I used to build
I bet you didn’t even know
Played me a fool
Play me like who?
Played me like Luis Figo

Malo wa pada wa le oo
Tori kpe you’re a man now
Men we mount for the trenches
Moving train, no one stopping
Tori kpe, mo wa laye o
Alaye bodo sowo oo
Men wey mount for the trenches
Who go pay for the Bentley?

Lately, them dey feel my vibe
I do what I like
Muyi this your vibe, sounds
Crazy
Some may say I’m mad
Others say I’m high
Me I no deny
Though maybe

The scars you left, they will never go
Cut me so deep, now I lay low
Now all that’s left is a bitter show
I’m gon rise above
Just dey watch me glow
